Nicky Morgan MP Nicky Morgan is the Member of Parliament for Loughborough, Shepshed, Barrow upon Soar, Hathern, Sileby, Quorn, the Wolds Villages and part of Mountsorrel. In July 2014 she was appointed Secretary of State for Education and held the position until July 2016. She previously served as Economic Secretary to the Treasury from October 2013 to April 2014 and as Financial Secretary to the Treasury from April to July 2014. Nicky is married to Jonathan, an architect, and a Charnwood councillor. They have one son, Alex, who was born in January 2008, and live in the constituency. Nicky was first selected for the Loughborough seat in 2004 and in the 2005 General Election achieved a swing to the Conservatives in the Loughborough seat, making it the most marginal seat in the East Midlands. She was reselected for the Loughborough seat in 2006. In the 2010 General Election Nicky was elected as the MP for Loughborough on a swing of 5.5% with a majority of 3,744 votes. In 2015 Nicky won 25,762 votes – a 49.5% share and a swing of 7.9%. Labour came second with just 16,579 votes in what before 2010 was a Labour seat. In 2017 Nicky was re-elected with 49.9% and a swing of 0.4%. In July 2017 Nicky was elected Chair of the Treasury Select Committee
